Etiene Lemaire (d. 1817) was chosen as Thomas Jefferson's maitre d'hotel in the President's House. He was hired in 1801 to replace Joseph Rapin. Before that Lemaire had employed by William Bingham of Philadelphia. Lemaire managed the domestic staff and supervised dinner service. He also did most of shopping for the the President's household.
