Geneva Jewish Farmers (f. ca. 1910), also known as the Lake Erie Jewish Community, was an association of about thirty-five farm families in Ashtabula, Lake, and Geauga Counties, Ohio. Jews from Cleveland settled in the region around Geneva, Ohio, as early as 1908 and continued into the 1930s, devoting themselves mostly to viniculture and fruit raising. This back-to-the-land movement was supported by the Jewish Agricultural Society of America, funded by the Baron Maurice de Hirsh Fund, providing low interest loans and counseling to individual farmers. Following World War II the Lake Erie Jewish Community disintegrated as the children of the original settlers opted for other careers and relocated to urban areas.
