Parmenter family.
The Parmenter family had originally resided in Schroon River, New York, a hamlet situated in the Adirondack Mountain region. It appears that the family removed to Minnesota sometime after the Civil War. Jacob Parmenter was an officer in the 3rd N.Y. Militia before the war. During the war he was captain of Company E of the 118th N.Y. Infantry Regiment. George Parmenter, a son of Jacob, served in the army during the Civil War. He was a private enrolled in Company H of the 5th New York Cavalry Regiment. George died in service from disease circa May 1862.
