French Opera Association.
The French Opera House in New Orleans came into existence near the middle of the nineteenth century. The building was erected in 1859, five blocks from Canal Street, on the corner of Bourbon and Toulouse Streets. The opera house was destroyed by fire in November 1919 and was not rebuilt. On these documents, George Denègre is listed as president of the French Opera Association, and other Denègre family members are also represented in the collection.
