History
This organization was founded as the Association of California State College Instructors in 1928 to represent CSC faculty in front of legislative committees, the Department of Education and other entities. Prior to unionization, the ACSCI negotiated salaries, sabbaticals, tenure, demotions and dismissals. The organization also worked to emphasize research and graduate studies within the state colleges. In 1959 the name of the organization changed to the Association of California State Colleges Professors. Currently the organization is known as the Association of California State University Professors.
