Gabriel Johnston was the Royal Governor of North Carolina 1734-1752. His nephew Samuel Johnston, was a Revolutionary leader and United States Senator. Huger William Johnstone was a Confederate officer and resident of Georgia. Johnstone Parr was a Professor of English at Kent State University. James D. Johnstone was a lawyer and educator from Georgetown, S.C.
