Grenville family.
In 1847-1884, Richard Grenville, 3rd Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, was chairman of the London and North West Railway which was formed in 1846 by the amalgamation of the Liverpool and Manchester, the Grand Junction, and the Manchester and Birmingham Railway companies. In this capacity, he oversaw the financial, technological, administrative, and legal affairs of the company. The 3rd Duke also owned the Wotton Tramway, a local line that linked the Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway main line to Brill.
