Neufville, John, 1727-1804

A merchant of Charleston, S.C.; during the later 1750s, worked with Wililam Anderson and his brother Edward Neufville in the firm of Neufvilles & Anderson; represented Parishes of Saint Philip and Saint Michael in the S.C. General Assembly, 1775-1778; also elected in 1782 but declined to serve in the Fifth General Assembly; lent money to the South Carolina government during the Revolution; exhausted most of his fortune by the end of the war. In 1750, Neufville married Elizabeth Moore, a union that produced at least seven children.
