Richard E. Westwood comes from a river family. His maternal grandfather, H.E. Blake, Sr., was a pioneer motor-boater on the Green and Colorado rivers. His uncle H.E. Blake, Jr., was a boatman for the U.S. Geological survey and others throughout the 1920s. He grew up with tales of the Green and the Colorado told at the kitchen table and followed in the footsteps of his family. Richard Westwood now lives in the Phoenix area in Arizona with his family.
