Roland L. Linder was born in Holdredge, Neb. on October 14, 1893. He attended high school in Sterling, Colo. and the University of Colo. Linder graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in architecture before moving to Denver, Colo. in 1913. After service in World War I, he studied at the Denver Atelier, founded by the Beaux Arts Institute of Design, New York City, N.Y. Linder opened his own architectural practice in 1921. He was working as the chief draftsman and supervising manager on the Denver City and County building when he was appointed City Architect in 1931. Linder was a member of the architectural firms: Linder, Wright & White and Roland L. Linder & Associates. These firms were responsible for designing the principal buildings and additions for Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center, Mercy Hospital and Rose Medical Center, as well as for the Denver Municipal Stadium, a.k.a. the Denver Coliseum. Linder was an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Fellow and president of the Colo. chapter of the AIA. He died November 11, 1977 in Denver, Colo. at Rose Medical Center.
