Hide Profile

WPRB is the non-profit radio station of Princeton University. The station was founded in 1940 by Henry G. Theis '42 who used a room in Pyne Hall to broadcast music, news, and sports to campus listeners for three hours a day. 15 years later in 1955 the station obtained a license to build an FM transmitter and became the first student-owned and operated FM station in the country, changing the call letters to WPRB. Since then the station has grown steadily, and today broadcasts a wide variety of music programs and live sports events with a signal strength of 30,000 watts, making it one of the world's strongest college radio stations.
