Union League of America. Grand Council in California.
The Union League of America, also known as the Loyal League, was formed in Ohio during the Civil War as a political organization of Northern whites in support of the Unionist cause. It was organized into state grand councils, with local county councils. Blacks were admitted into the league after the war.
