Johnston, John, 1729?-1786
Variant namesJohn Johnston of Grange (1729?-1786), was the laird of three farms in Dumfrieshire, the largest of which was Grange. He practiced law in Edinburgh and was one of James Boswell's oldest friends. Johnston spent his later years struggling with his family's financial difficulties, and died unmarried at Grange in 1786.
