Gay (Harvard, M.D. 1868) was instructor in clinical surgery, 1888-1900, and lecturer on surgery at the Harvard Medical School, 1900-1908. He was also surgeon at Boston City Hospital for many years. He served on the Committee on State and National Legislation of the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Gay (Harvard, M.D. 1868) was clinical instructor in surgery from 1888 to 1900 and lecturer in surgery at Harvard Medical School from 1900 to 1908. For many years he was associated with Boston City Hospital as visiting surgeon and was involved with problems of asepsis and anesthesia. In 1917 Gay provided Harvard with a fund to support a series of annual lectures to medical school students on topics concerning medical ethics.
