Hide Profile

Angus McVicar began McVicar Photo Service in 1926 in Madison in the basement of the family flower shop. Much of his early work was for the Capital Times newspaper. He operated the studio until 1941 when he sold the business to George Stein, who had worked for McVicar since he was a teenager. After World War II McVicar returned to photography, working for Stein in the darkroom and as a photographer until 1958. Stein renamed the business Photo Copy Service and operated the studio full time until his retirement in 1963 and then continued making photographs into the 1980s.
