Thomas C. Love, born in Madison County, N.Y. and a student of the law in Batavia, came to Buffalo to volunteer to fight in the Battle of Fort Erie during the War of 1812. He became the first judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Buffalo, and was judge in the Thayer trial, the first murder trial in Buffalo. George M. was his son; Levi Love was his brother.
