Variant namesUnited Steelworkers of America, Local 1843 was founded in 1937 as part of the Steelworkers Organizing Committee and represented workers at the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation mills in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The union continued to represent workers at the plants after they became part of LTV Steel and up to the plants' closure in 1999.
