Madeline Russell Robinton was born in New York City on March 22, 1909. She graduated Barnard College in 1929 and received her doctorate from Columbia University in 1944. She taught history at Brooklyn College from 1931until she retired in 1976. Professor Robinton was one of the founding members of the Phi Beta Kappa chapter at Brooklyn College and served as book review book review editor for the Key Reporter of Phi Beta Kappa. She also served on the Council for the Conference of British Studies, executive committee of the Anglo-American Conference, and the Phi Beta Kappa Qualifications Committee. She was also a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Professor Robinton and her husband Herman were long time residents of Brooklyn Heights. She also wrote numerous articles and reviewed many books on the struggles of the political system in England. Professor Madeline R. Robinton passed away on September 13, 2006.
