The Florida Technological University Foundation, Inc. began in 1968 and when FTU changed its name to the University of Central Florida in 1978, the foundation followed suit and became the UCF Foundation, Inc. According to its mission statement, the foundation aids in the forging of relationships between the university and its alumni, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community through mutual participation in advancing distinguished programs and scholarship within the university. The foundation supports all aspects of fund-raising for the university from small amounts to large bequests. It is currently classified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
