Variant namesBorn at Montreal, December 29, 1693; entered military service, 1713; was sent to Mackinac 1734-40; was sent to Detroit as commandant, 1742-1753; but was in the meantime several times at Quebec and Montreal; commanded at Niagara; was sent by Galissoniere, governor of Canada, to take possession of the Ohio River Valley for France, 1749; removed from Detroit and appointed Major at Montreal, 1753; died there, April 14, 1759.
