Mabel Washburn was a genealogist, historian, and author, who served from 1927 to 1935 as genealogical editor of the Journal of American History. Major William H. Cobb was an attorney based in Elkins, West Virginia, who was also a presiding officer in an organization known as the Knights of Washington.
