The Pond Dynamics/Aquaculture Collaborative Research Support Program is an international effort to develop aquacultural technology as a means of confronting food security problems in developing countries. A cohesive research program is carried out in selected developing countries and the United States by teams of U.S. and host country scientists. The Program is funded by U.S. Agency for International Development. Oregon State University is the Management Entity for the program and has technical, administrative, and fiscal responsibility for the performance of grant provisions. Research programs have been conducted in Egypt, Honduras, Indonesia, Panama, the Philippines, Rwanda, and Thailand. The program was formally initiated in 1982. In 2006, Oregon State University was awarded a five-year grant by the U.S. Agency for International Development to lead the Aquaculture and Fisheries (also known as Aquafish) Collaborative Research Support Program, a new research program to improve access to fish and water resources in developing countries.
