Goold, Samuel William, 1845-1918
Variant namesBetween 1871 and 1878 Samuel W. Goold worked as Brigham Young's gardener and lived for a couple of years in the Brigham Young winter home in St. George. Goold was a member of the School of the Prophets in St. George and helped to build the St. George Temple. He saved his money and paid for the emigratioin from Wales of his mother, siblings, and Sarah Ann Lewis, whom he later married. Goold served in various positions in the LDS Church, including Sunday School teacher, leader of the ward and stake choir, and, beginning in 1901, bishop of the Monroe Ward.
