Eliza Davids was the widow of Richard W. Davids, listed as a gentleman in the 1861 Philadelphia city directory. In 1877 Eliza resided at 520 Spruce Street; she was an Episcopalian, attending Christ and later St. John's Church. As with other genteel Philadelphians, she traveled to Cape May and Liverpool, England, belonged to the Merion Cricket Club, and had a penchant for reading. Her son studied engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, and was a member of the Photography Society and Orpheus Club.
