State Senator Helen Gordon Davis served in the State legislature from 1974 to 1992. She represented the 70th House District from 1974 to 1982, the 64th House District from 1982 to 1988 and the 23rd Senate District from 1988 to 1992. Long active in civic affairs, she was the first Caucasian woman to join the NAACP in Florida, was a charter member of the Hillsborough League of Women Voters and the first woman from Hillsborough County to be elected to the State Legislature.
