Confederate States of America. Army. 4th Infantry Regiment. Texas State Troops.
Camp Groce, located near Hempstead, Texas, was converted into a Confederate military prison in June, 1863, and then abandoned in December, 1864. The 4th Infantry Regiment was led by Col. John Sayles, Lt. Col. James W. Barnes, and Major Moses Austin Bryan.
