Angus McBean was born in South Wales in June of 1904 and the family later moved to Scotland. He was a photographer active in London who photographed most of the important stage productions in London, Stratford-on-Avon, Glyndebourne, and Aldeburgh, from the 1930s through the early 1970s. His work has been associated with surrealism.
