Adolf Pokorny was an Austrian physician who was tried at Nuremberg in the "Doctor's Trial" in 1947, for conducting medical experiments under the Nazi regime; he was acquitted. His sister, Olga Hensel (née Pokorny), testified at the trial on his behalf. During a period of their youth Olga and Adolf Pokorny had lived in Prague and were acquaintances of Franz Werfel. Hans Lamm (b. 1913) was a journalist and writer and after 1961 president of the Jewish community in Munich and active in education. Adolf Pokorny provided all of the materials included here to Lamm. Lamm passed on the copies of the letter from Werfel (and presumably the other materials as well) to Henry Lea, a research assistant to Adolf Klarmann.
