Hughes, Bridget.

Hide Profile

Bridget Hughes was the daughter of Mary McConville and Daniel Hughes. The Hughes and the McConvilles were both Catholic families who lived in the town Creenkill in County Armagh. To escape the effects of the Famine, in 1846, Bridget emigrated with her aunt Ellen McConville to Hingham, Massachusetts. Their male relatives joined them in 1848 or 1849. In the 1850s, the families migrated westward in search of farmlands. The Hughes settled in Wisconsin and the McConvilles in Illinois.
