Horowitz was born in New York City in 1912, and moved to Hollywood shortly before the outbreak of World War II. His early dedication to the work of African-American artists, chief among them Charles White, distinguished Horowitz and his gallery. Horowitz, who actively promoted White's work and career, gave him more than fifty one-person exhibitions.
