Hauser was a Trustee of Hofstra University from 1944 to 1955; upon his retirement the new Chemistry Building was dedicated in his honor. Hauser was employed in the aircraft industry starting in 1918, and in 1957 was elected President of Liberty Aircraft Products Corporation.
