Louise Rosenfield Noun, social activist, art collector, philanthropist, author, and co-founder of the Iowa Women's Archives, was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1908, the daughter of Meyer and Rose (Frankel) Rosenfield. Noun became widely recognized for her leadership and commitment to a number of organizations and causes, especially those benefitting women. She is the author of three books, two about the women's movement in Iowa and the other, her autobiography.

A graduate of Grinnell College, Noun was a founding member of the Des Moines League of Women Voters and the Des Moines chapter of the National Organization for Women. She has written extensively about Iowa women and their accomplishments and is a member of the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame.
