William Henry Eustis (1845-1928) was a noted philanthropist and beloved citizen of Minneapolis. He came to Minnesota in 1881 while prospecting and built a large fortune through real estate acquisitions. Disabled due to an accident while he was a teen, Eustis gave much of his fortune to charity, especially the Dowling School in Minneapolis, which cared for crippled children. He also donated funds for the University of Minnesota to build a children's hospital. From 1893-1895, Eustis served a term as Mayor of Minneapolis, and considered a run for the governorship, but decided not to do so. Eustis was known for his generosity and love for disabled children, and was a renowned citizen of Minneapolis at the time of his death in 1928.

William Henry Eustis was a Minneapolis lawyer who created a $2,000,000 later called the Minnesota Hospital and Home for Crippled Children. The trust is administered by the Regents of the University of Minnesota.
