Robert W. Frazer was born in Sacramento, CA, on December 19, 1911. He earned his A.B. degree in 1936, his M.A. degree in history in 1940, and his Ph.D. in 1941, all from the University of California - Los Angeles. He taught at Adams State College (Alamosa, Colorado), the University of Wichita (Kansas), and the California State University in Long Beach, CA. He retired from there in 1975 as a Professor of History Emeritus. His published works are Over the Chihuahua and Santa Fe Trails, 1847-1848, Forts and Supplies. The Role of the Army in the Economy of the Southwest, 1846-181, Forts of the WestMilitary Forts and Presidios, and Posts Commonly Called Forts, West of the Mississippi River to 1898 .
