Thomas S. Taylor was from Autauga County, Ala. Taylor served in the Autauga Rifles and as a Lieutenant with the 6th Alabama Infantry. This unit served with the Army of Northern Virginia. Taylor was with the 6th Alabama Infantry during the battles of the Wilderness, Seven Pines, Cold Harbor, Malvern's Hill, Sharpsburg, South Mountain, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. When Taylor was killed on June 3, 1864, he was in command of the regiment's sharpshooters.
