Du Ru, Paul, 1666-1741
Variant namesJesuit chaplain on Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville's second exploratory expedition to Louisiana and the Mississippi River.
Born in Vernon, France, in 1666, Du Ru entered the Jesuit order at age twenty. He was selected for the Louisiana mission in 1699 and remained in America after d'Iberville's return to France. Before being recalled to France in 1702, Du Ru served as chaplain at Fort Biloxi and Fort Mobile.
