Lawson Wood (1878-1957), an illustrator, designer, and painter working at London, was the son of the landscape painter Lawson Pinhorn Wood and grandson of the architectural artist Lewis John Wood. From the late 1890s, he was the principal artist for the publisher Arthur Pearson, contributing illustrations to periodicals such as Pearson's Magazine, Boy's Own Paper, Illustrated London News, and the Strand Magazine. Wood's strengths included comic scenes and animal drawings.
