Served on the following House committees: Industry & Labor Relations, Revenue, Executive, Education, and Special Constitution Amendment. Also sat on the Legislative Audit Commission and served as Vice-Chairman of the Commission on State Government--Illinois.

As a Senator (1967-1976), he served on the Elections, Public Finance, Revenue Division, Appropriations, and Executive Committees. Also served on the following commissions: Legislative Audit (Chairman, 1973-1974), State Government, Constitution Study, Organization of the General Assembly (Vice-Chairman, 1973-1974), Illinois Economic and Fiscal, and the Commission to Visit and Examine State Institutions. Appointed by Governor James Thompson as chairman of the Local Government Finance Study Commission in 1980-1981. Lifelong resident of La-Grange and Western Springs.
