Woolnough, W. G. (Walter George), 1876-1958
Variant namesGeologist. Educated University of Sydney. Lecturer, Universities of Sydney and Adelaide, 1898-1912, first Professor of Geology at University of Western Australia, 1912-1919. Member of expeditions to Funafut (1897), Fiji (1901, 1905), Northern Territory (1911). In 1930 he was appointed by the Commonwealth Government to tour the oilfields of the U.S.A. and Argentina and in 1932 he made the first aerial survey of oil possibilities in Australia.
