Vanuxem family.
The Vanuxem family was a prominent Pennsylvania family of French origin. James Vanuxem (or Jacques Van Uxem, 1746-1824) immigrated from France in 1760 and became a wealthy merchant in Philadelphia and Bristol. His son Lardner Vanuxem (1792-1848) was an eminent geologist.
