Teacher and missionary; b. in Lisbon, N.H.; spent most of childhood in Portland, Me.; taught home economics for 22 years; after retiring, left the U.S. for Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) where worked as a missionary, teaching home economics and English, at Mount Silinda Mission, operated by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. Andrew spent 1953-1958 in Africa, and traveled around Europe for several months before returning to the U.S., where she worked at the Swinburne School in Newport, R.I.; in the 1960s she was involved with a women's group of Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland and other community organizations. She maintained contact with her family in Maine throughout her time in Africa and also kept in touch with students and friends from Africa after her return to the U.S.
