James Ormond (d. 1819), sea captain and planter (ca. 1790-1820) in present day Volusia County, Florida; James Ormond (d. 1829), who fled Scotland in 1821 and managed the plantation until his death; and James Ormond (1819-1892), who fought in the Second Seminole War, during which he was forced to abandon the plantation and subsequently became a merchant in Port Leon, Florida. He later founded Newport, Florida.
