Commissioned into the Army in 1917. Served with the 43rd Infantry Regiment in WWI, the 45th Infantry Regiment in the Philippines and was Assistant Division Commander of the 90th and 106th Infantry Divisions. Participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Awarded the Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, and the Croix de Guerre. Retired from service as Major General in 1945. Died January 1969, at age 73.
