Albert Brockman born in S.C. on May 13, 1924. He enlisted in the Army at Philadelphia, Pa. on February 1, 1943 after completing three years of high school. Brockman joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company A of the 86th Infantry Regiment, but later served with Company M and then Company A of the 85th. After training at Camp Hale, he also served at Camp Swift, Tex. and in Italy. Twice awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Rose to the rank of Company First Sergeant, or the top enlisted man in a company of approximately 200 men.
