Charles C. MacCall wa born 23 March 1895 in Causeyville, Miss. He attended law school at the University of Alabama. McCall joined the U. S. Army in 1917, where he became a 1st lieutenant and participated in the Mexican border troubles in 1917. He achieved the rank of captain in 1920 and was soon detailed to the Judge Advocate, General Department, Criminal Division, Washington, D. C. From 1921 to 1923 he also served as Staff judge Advocate, Fort Benning, Ga. While in Washington, D. C., McCall attended several law schools in the area.
McCall returned to Alabama in 1924 where he served as an assistant state examiner for accounts until 1926, when he was elected attorney general of the state. he ran unsuccessfully for governor in 1930 and for U S. senator in 1932. He served as counsel for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, 1931-1932. In 1933 he joined the legal staff of the Public Works Administration. He was associated with that agency and the Federal Works Administration until 1948 when he returned to private law practice.
