Communications Workers of America. Local 3290 (Atlanta, Ga.)
The Communications Workers of America began in 1939 as a group of unaffiliated unions in the telephone industry organized under the name of the National Federation of Telephone Workers. In 1947, the group changed its name to the Communications Workers of America (CWA). The CWA affiliated with the CIO and merged with the Telephone Workers Organizing Committee in 1949. The CWA, Local 3290 (Atlanta, Ga.) is comprised of employees of the Western Electric Company (Atlanta, Ga.).
