McClintic was a Democratic politician. He was a member of the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, 1911-1912; Oklahoma State Senate, 1913-1914; and U. S. House of Representatives (representing Oklahoma's Seventh Congressional District), 1915-1934. Also, he served as executive assistant to Oklahoma Governor Ernest W. Marland, 1935-1940, and special assistant to U. S. Secretary of the Interior Harold L. Ickes, 1941-1944. He was an employee of the U. S. War Department Readjustment Division in 1944 and 1945.
