Born on October 15, 1934, in Ontonagon, Michigan, Larry Chabot is a graduate of Ontonagon High School and a 1958 graduate of Georgetown University with a degree in business administration. In 1962 Chabot joined the White Pine Copper Company as a public relations assistant, later serving as management director, personnel director and employee relations manager. During the company's changes in the 1980s, Chabot was active in committees responsible for the implementation and management of the employee involvement process. Larry Chabot has authored two books on the history of Michigan's Upper Peninsula including "The U.P. Goes to War: Upper Michigan and Its Heroes in World War II" and "Saving Our Sons: How the Civilian Conservation Corps Rescued a Generation of Upper Peninsula Men".
