Steiger, William A.
Retired postal bookkeeper and cashier who came back as Acting Postmaster for Springfield, Ill. from April 1, 1949 through October 1, 1950. Had worked for the Post Office since 1912 and was instrumental in getting air mail in and out of Springfield in 1926. Was a past president of the Lincoln's Home Collectors Club and had large collections of historical airmail and autographs.
