James R. Humer was born 15 September 1919 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and was inducted into the U.S. Army on 2 June 1942 in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. He served with the 269th Quartermaster Gas Support Company in the Pacific Theater of Operations until 10 December 1945. Humer was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on 16 January 1946.
